Addition and Subtraction

Adittion and subtraction can be solved by using two stratefieas: counting on/back, rounding and compensating.

Counting on is adding forward using figure when the number is under ten. Counting back is subtracting usig fingers, when the number subtracded is under ten.

Rounding and compensating is rounding the added or subtracted number to the nearest tidy numbe, then compensating for the rounding. Compenstating is done by spitting the new number into the old number and the leftover.

Counting on/back and rounding and compenstating are easy strageis to use for addition and subtraction, when numbers et too big to be solved with basic facts.

Vocabalry

We looked at new word and learnt the meaning before reading the book A Sweet Business.

First, we looked at two word and learnt the meaning they are.
  • rūma - Room

  • hive - a place where bees live

Afterwards, we anwsered a range of question using the comments.

I thought this was hard because we didin't know much about bees.

Party Popper Prototype

My company Design Builders were making a prototype of a party popper.

First we thought of the parts that we were going to use for our prototype. Some of the parts were a plastic cup, thick rubber band, and a paper stopper.

Second Design Builders assembled the parts of the prototype. When we assembled the party popper it stayed together and thought about some backups if this party popper bracks.

Finally Design Builders tested the party popper. We tested the rubber band, The strength of the cup, and the paper stopper.

I enjoyed the assembling the parts of the party popper.

LI: to make a prototype for testing.
